Specialist National Qualifications for Primary PE coming to Cambridgeshire!

L5and6

In partnership with afPE & Sport Leaders UK, Cambridgeshire County Council are offering two new bespoke nationally recognised primary school Physical Education courses. These are professional qualifications in Primary School Physical Education, and have been acknowledged by OFSTED as an effective use of the PE premium funding and are a recognised part of the Government’s ambition to have a PE specialist in every primary school. The qualifications are recognised by OFQUAL.

• Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism
• Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership.

Who are these qualifications aimed at?
Primary school teachers, teaching assistants and coaches employed by schools will be able to undertake the qualifications.

When is it planned to start?
The course will involve 8 contact days and will be delivered across one academic year, beginning in September 2016. All teaching will be delivered as a combination of classroom seminars and applied practical workshops, and teachers will be expected to carry out independent tasks and reflective work in their own schools.
