Healthy You Schools Week

13 January, 2025 from 8:00 am - 17 January, 2025 from 5:00 pm

FOR ALL, TARGETED, COMPETITIVE

All of our events will follow our new event themes; For All, Targeted & Competitive. These themes have been designed to ensure we provide events to benefit all young people.

FOR ALL– These events are for everyone and are delivered in school. They focus on providing 60 active mins for every child whilst supporting their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

TARGETED– These events target specific groups of young people who would benefit the most from having positive experiences of sport, physical activity and competition. The activities and outcomes are designed to reflect the young people’s needs and motivations.

COMPETITIVE– These events are for pupils who are ready and prepared for competition and enjoy performing and competing against others. They provide the opportunity for competition in a positive and friendly environment where the focus is on enjoyment and supporting the wider development of young people as much as the outcome of the event itself.

This is a FOR ALL event open to all children but with the focus being to increase motivation and promote enjoyment for those least active children within your school. The event will take place in your own school.

Healthy You Schools week will take place from Monday 13th to Friday 17th January 2025.

Intent

The aim of the week is to support and encourage children and families to lead an active and healthy lifestyle whilst promoting the Chief Medical Officer’s recommended 60 active minutes a day guidelines.

Who for?

The event is aimed at all children in KS1 and KS2 with the focus being to increase motivation and promote enjoyment for those least active children in your school.

Format

There will be themed days throughout the week e.g Movement Monday, Wellbeing Wednesday with activity ideas and educational resources as well as signposted local offers. All with a focus on physical activity, healthy eating and wellbeing.

The activities and resources could be used in school or at home or even a mixture of both. Schools and teachers will be able to pick and choose from the activities to suit their children and school. We would also encourage you to come up with your own ideas.

The Youth Sport Trust, the leading UK children’s charity for improving young people’s health and wellbeing through sport and play, have released a new film which aims to highlight how a lack of movement in childhood can have lasting impacts on a child’s health, including their brain development. It’s only a minute long but quite powerful and might be something you wish to share with children, staff or parents.

If you would like to take part in this event please book on below, we will send you further information and resources for the week once we have received your booking.
