Fantastic Competition for all at Handball
Monday 9th March saw 14 teams from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough compete in the School Games County Handball Finals 2019/2020. An exciting event ensued as children aged 12 to 15 took part in County Finals throughout the day.
The Tournament consisted of 4 different categories – U13 Boys, U13 Girls, U15 Boys, U15 Girls. This event took place at the Cambridge University Sports Centre and was kindly supported by England Handball.
The venue came alive with the sound of cheering and camaraderie as the schools battled it out to become champions. Matches were highly contested and closely fought for, often coming down to the last couple of minutes! And final results in some cases coming down to goal difference. Each school represented one of the five Partnership areas – Cambridge (CSSP), Hunts (HSSP), Peterborough, South Cambs (SCSSP) and Witchford (WSSP).

Congratulations to all the winning teams Swavesey Village College (Under 13 boys), Kings School Peterborough (Under 13 girls) and Impington Village College (Under 15 boys and girls) who will be representing our region at the Regional Handball Finals in May!
The festival was organised by Living Sport, the Active Partnership, on behalf of the Local Organising Committee for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The mission of the Games is ‘Keeping competitive sport at the heart of schools and providing more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best’. The event is funded and supported by Youth Sport Trust, Sport England and The National Lottery.
