Thriplow out run opponents

Cricket 3

Schools from across South Cambs came together at the lovely setting of Caldecote Cricket Club for the Partnerships final competition of the school year; Year 3/4 Kwik Cricket. Kwik cricket is played in mixed teams of 8 and is very inclusive with each team member having to bowl 1 over per match and bat for 2 overs as well as field and support their team mates.

The competition was organised into 3 leagues of 5 teams and then played in a round robin format with each team playing 4 matches. After all of the matches the winners of the three leagues were Jeavons Wood (Red League) and Thriplow (Yellow League) who both won all 4 of their matches and Coton (White League) who finished with 3 wins and a draw.

The overall winners thanks to some really strong batting performances and a great team sprit were Thriplow Primary School who finished with an overall run total of 975 to Jeavons Woods 939.

The Spirit of the Games award went to the team from Histon and Impington Junior School who showed great team work and respect during the competition, thanking the umpires, applauding their opponents and generally competing in good spirit.

Claire McDonnell, Partnership Manager said “It was a great afternoon of cricket played at a super venue. We had six matches playing simultaneously all afternoon and there was some fine play with some strong batting and fielding skills on display. Thanks to the students from Comberton Village College for umpiring and scoring the matches and to Caldecote Cricket Club for hosting the event.”
