Year 5/6 Dodgeball Festival (Invite Only)

15 October from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

FOR ALL, TARGETED, COMPETITIVE

All of our events will follow our new event themes; For All, Targeted & Competitive. These themes have been designed to ensure we provide events to benefit all young people.

FOR ALL– These events are for everyone and are delivered in school. They focus on providing 60 active mins for every child whilst supporting their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

TARGETED– These events target specific groups of young people who would benefit the most from having positive experiences of sport, physical activity and competition. The activities and outcomes are designed to reflect the young people’s needs and motivations.

COMPETITIVE– These events are for pupils who are ready and prepared for competition and enjoy performing and competing against others. They provide the opportunity for competition in a positive and friendly environment where the focus is on enjoyment and supporting the wider development of young people as much as the outcome of the event itself.

This is a TARGETED event for Year 5/6 pupils who are PP/disadvantaged, don’t normally engage in physical activity/sport and possibly lack parental support to do this.  The aim of this event is to engage new audiences in physical activity and sport.

Our Dodgeball Festival will be for invited schools only initially with those schools being asked to bring a squad of upto 10 children to take part. The festival is designed to target children who do not regularly participate in extracurricular physical activity.  Children selected to participate in the festival should be those who do not normally have the opportunity to represent their school in sporting competitions and perhaps come from a more disadvantaged background.  The festival is designed for both boys and girls to participate in a mixed team.  Eight schools will be invited to take part in the festival. The festival will include dodgeball challenge games to develop skills and confidence followed by an inter-school competition.

Please note you cannot book on to this event. We will email invited schools to take part in due course.
