Teaching Dance at KS1

This practical course focuses on developing delegates’ subject knowledge and skills for teaching dance at KS1. Participants will practically develop dance materials and use relevant compositional principles to aid pupils’ understanding, skill development, composition and performance in dance. Delegates will receive a support pack of materials to take away.

 

Aims:

  • to develop skills and confidence to deliver high-quality dance teaching at KS1
  • to explore a range of stimuli and ideas for dance development
  • to explore the process of dance development (i.e. starting from an initial stimulus and finishing with a composition)
  • to explore how dance can be an integral part of a creative curriculum and can encompass other curriculum subjects
