Netball Youth Umpire Award

This course introduces the principals of umpiring and the rules of netball. It is ideal for students who want to get involved in officiating and get involved at school or officiate at the School Games.

The Youth Umpire Award (YUA) has been designed for young people from 13 to 18 years of age and consists of a 4 hour workshop led by an England Netball tutor.

Once participants have had time to put their new skills into action they can then be assessed by an England Netball Umpire Assessor in order to achieve the qualification.

 

Key Course Objectives

  • Introduce the principles of umpiring and the rules of netball
  • Introduce officiating to young people, to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the role that the official plays in netball and sport as a whole
  • Offer opportunities for students to umpire matches within their school or other appropriate environment
