This is a theory course – with no practical element (so please bring materials to take notes). There will be an assessment at the end of the course.

Course Objectives:
• To provide a foundation level course in judging gymnastics
• To encourage more people to become involved in judging
• To encourage teachers and students to extend their knowledge of gymnastics and to help them to understand how gymnastic exercises are evaluated
• To give teachers and students the expertise, confidence and encouragement to judge at beginner level competitions
• To provide a sound introduction for those wishing to gain further judging experience and qualifications.

The syllabus will cover an introduction to judging and the role of the judge, recognition of good technique, calculating a score, procedures for judging set exercises.
