Gymnastics Course – Award Scheme for School
24 June, 2016 from 9:15 am - 4:45 pm
Event Navigation
This course gives attendees a certificate in Award Scheme Coaching which allows them to deliver and assess the British Gymnastics Core Proficiency Award Scheme in an extra-curricular club within their school.
An Award Scheme Coach (ASC) is someone who works in a school and either runs, or has the intention of running, a school gymnastics club on the premises where they are employed. The Award Scheme is aimed at 5-11 year olds.
The ASC award will help with the introduction of gymnastics as an extended school activity. Using the Proficiency Award scheme (formerly BAGA Awards), the ASC will help with the teaching of the skills content of the scheme by way of demonstration and instruction. The ASC will understand how the Proficiency Scheme works, and how to assess the children in their group. The ASC badge scheme is not issued to candidates attending the course but can be ordered from the British Gymnastics GymShop.
