Schools recognised for commitment to PE and sport
A record number of 33 South Cambs Schools have recently secured a School Games Award for 2015-16 in recognition of their commitment to the development of Physical Education, school sport and competition across their school and into the community.
Partnership Manager, Claire McDonnell said, “This is a significant increase on the number of schools that gained an award last year with 5 more schools achieving the highest level of recognition, a Gold award. Schools achieving the coveted Gold award demonstrate a whole school approach to PE and sport, they have the wholehearted support from their headteacher and provide opportunities for all pupils at all levels. As well as this they are a community hub for sport, encouraging involvement from parents and community groups. I really am delighted that more schools are now being recognised and rewarded for their hard work and commitment to provide the very best opportunities for their pupils, it is a fantastic achievement. I am also pleased that we have more schools than ever before gaining a Bronze award and I hope with further support and encouragement we can help them to go on achieve higher.”
The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme where schools can gain a bronze, silver or gold level award. The following schools in South Cambs have achieved an award in 2015-16 and will be presented with their certificates and pennants in the coming weeks, congratulations to all of them on their hard work and excellent provision.
