Teaching Gymnastics at KS2

This practical course will focus on the effective teaching of gymnastics, including lesson structure, lesson content and health and safety aspects. The course will focus on key gymnastic skills developing into a range of teaching tasks to support pupils’ learning within gymnastics. Practical activities exploring movement vocabulary will help develop participants’ subject knowledge and understanding.
Aims

• To develop colleagues’ confidence and knowledge to deliver high quality learning in gymnastics at KS2
• To develop the skills and understanding to structure an effective lesson
• To explore a range of layouts and the safe use of a range of apparatus
• To discuss planning and progression through a gymnastics unit

NB: Participants need to wear suitable clothing and footwear to participate in practical activity.
